Dear Diary

I've decided to treat my blog a little like a diary just simply becasue i find it easier to write in this way and it makes it a bit more personal. Anyway, i got quite bored on my last post uploading my photo's thats why there's only a few (I can assure you their not my best). They were for my friend in my Art foundation class as he needed some of his dress sending off, so it was quite last minute, taken in a park just down the road from college... oh well it did the job! I'm just going to upload bits of my work randomly from now on I think it's not only because i'm lazy but i think it's a bit exciting that way.. hmm.

Today, i'm sorting out my whole room! Explanation mark was necessary - this is going to take a while. I started about an hour ago an thought i'd give myself a break and post a blog ha... if i carry on at this rate i'll be doing it all week. I have just had a letter through from Manchester Met, saying I have to go and meet them and the rest of the regional progression students to show my work... Slightly worrying I must admit but it gave me the boost to get my act together and make a plan for the week off (which i plan to do after i've sorted out my room). I did a photoshoot in college last week with three of my friends being the models - I thought it would be easier to direct them into poses etc. but turns out it was more difficult. You see, with people you barely know modelling for you, it seems more like a job so you can just do it and get the results you want. Howeverrr, with friends there's a lot of messing around, dinner breaks, complaining because there's no need to tip toe around the fact shoes are hurting/ it's too hot/ hair is irritating them etc due to us being on that 'comfortable level' BUT in spite of this I am very grateful for thier time (thanks guys). I might ask strangers from now on though (haha).

Here's a few...

Avoid, Avoid, Avoid & Photoglory

Aah well this blogging hasn't gone as I would have hoped but I'm feeling a bit enthused -at 12.15 am- not so normal but I thought why not post a second?! I have just finished watching Snog, Marry, Avoid... the girls who appear on this show really do stay true to their fashion.....nightmares! Butt 90% of the time, POD covers them up, strips them of their make up and sticks a wig on them - I mean talk about jumping in at the deep end. These girls need a slower pace make-under, they are used to 10 layers of foundation, 3 layers of eyelashes, extensions touching the floor, neon blusher, crayon eyebrows, tight skimpy clothes (if any at all) etc... cutting their hair into an Emma Watson crop, covering them up like a nun and giving them a tiny but of concealer to cover their bags is hardly going to be a successful life change make over now is it! I could do that, you could do that, a 5 year old could do that! BBC3 should hire me to be POD i think... ooh the possibilities! Classic example; definitely one of the top 3 worst sights I have ever witnessed!

Anyway I'll stop ranting about my TV guilty pleasures and get back to why I wanted to post...

I've been doing photography for 2 and a half years now so I have quite a lot of work to show for it and thought I'd post a few shoots because posting them all would make this the longest blog ever posted!

Here are some from my latest shoot, it was quite short notice so their not the best but their OOOkay.

A late start to the New Year

So i might be a tad late starting a blog which i said i would do as part of my new year, new lifestyle, new everything resolution but as the cliche goes... better late than never! I'd like to say i'm the most passionate person ever about the arts and fashion itself but I'd be lying. The situation is this - I have had a little obsession with cameras from a young age and I don't mean the way they are put together or how they actually work but the potential of what each one can produce, depending on who's holding it. Still, motional, light, dark, abstract or perfectly clear the options for a successful image are endless nowadays and that is exciting to me. Whether you're the most experienced photographer in the world or an ameture, it doesn't matter, if you have ideas and a camera to carry it out you can do it and there are no boundry's... just like fashion! (I do sound quite passionate actually, who knew?!) Anyway i'll stop rambling now because this is beginning to sound like a personal statement, but yes.. photographs and fashion - separately and combined are what have inspired me to start this blog!

My first port of call - Welcome back Gwen Stefani!

Ok, maybe she's been here all along with her being the designer of the L.A.M.B fashion label but in the spotlight herself, not so much. She may have calmed down since her No Doubt days when she was known for her wacky sense of style rather than her performance but prepare to see more of the outrageous, blonde talent as she is now to become the newest face of Loreal Paris. I absolutely love this portrait of her, she looks 10 year's shy of her age (41) but it is effortless and the black and white makes the image Maryln Monroe-esk, not to mention the similarity in features! I think Stefani is the perfect candidate for this - not an obvious choice like Cheryl Cole and Eva Longoria but it works. She is a woman with style and beauty, what more do you need?

P.S. It's never to early to look at next seasons collections, so I leave you with this...
